How to Make Your Own Shadow Portraits
Shadow portraits are a great fun activity for many ages! We had lots of fun making our portraits and I love how gorgeous and unique they turned out. We taped a large piece of watercolor paper (we used 18"x24") to a wall (or glass door in our case) using masking tape. We then set up a little Ikea table lamp a few feet away pointing at the paper and positioned ourselves in front of the paper. We had to kind of shuffle and make sure we were positioned correctly to have a crisp l

DIY Copper Wedding Signs
I had fun making DIY signs for a recent wedding in Portland. The bride and groom have a laid-back, hip Portland style and I wanted something to match that aesthetic. These signs were super easy and it was great to be able to customize the chalkboard signs with chalk. Here are the supplies I used from JOANN's. I unfortunately didn't take too many more photos of the process, but hopefully the list of supplies is helpful in recreating this look. - Metal hoops (in copper color. I

Shrinky Dinks Make the Sweetest Personalized Gifts
Do you guys remember Shrinky Dinks? We recently rediscovered them and have been loving making custom fun necklaces for ourselves and as gifts. I made 2 handwritten kids name necklaces for myself and Lena has been loving making unicorn necklaces for her friends. We used regular Sharpie pens to draw and color in the designs. Then I helped cut them out and hole-punch holes for the string. Then we baked them on parchment paper at 325 degrees for only about 1-3 minutes until they

Chic DIY Artwork to Spruce Up Your Place
This is a quick DIY artwork I made using Chunkies Paint Sticks. These paint sticks are our absolute favorite and are super easy and clean to work with. They are normally a more kid-focused product and I wanted to showcase how versatile they are and how you can use them to create your own chic art as well. Here is a quick Step-By-Step photo guide... As you can see, the paint doesn't have to be perfect, which is what makes it look more unique. Let it dry for a few hours or even

Easy No Sew Pinata Costume
If you need an adorable and comfy last minute DIY costume, this is the project for you. This is an easy DIY costume I made in a couple of hours while watching a movie. The best part is that there was absolutely no sewing required! My 2 year old has been loving pinatas and really enjoyed having one at his birthday recently. I thought it would be great to make something he loves and would recognize...and he absolutely loved it...and actually wore it! It's comfy and it also held

Cutest Modern Pumpkins
I am loving these new pumpkins and how bright and fun they are. I bought a variety of tiny pumpkins from Safeway and painted them using neon acrylic paints + different amounts of white mixed in. I would recommend using white pumpkins as they are the smoothest and are easiest to paint with the lighter colors (so that you don't have to do 2 layers). The orange pumpkins also worked well for the orange colors, but you can really use any pumpkin for any color! I even used some of

Glitter Handprint & Footprint Halloween Art
Yes! Halloween is finally close and I'm so excited for all of the new themed projects we can make now. This is a super cute and simple handrint and footprint art that anyone can make. We used a sparkly black paper from Michael's for this project, but you can use a plain piece of construction paper as well of course. We brushed on Elmer's glue onto Lena's feet and hands and then stamped them onto the paper. This is always a fun part as it involves lots of tickly laughter. Then

Did you know that you can make the prettiest colored shells by using nothing but food coloring? It's super easy. Just drop your desired food coloring colors directly onto a clean shell and watch it transform! Make sure to let it dry for at least an hour to make sure you don't get food coloring on anything. #DIY #shells #rainbows

Gorgeous Marbled DIY Jewelry Dishes
This is one of my new favorite projects to do with kids or grown-ups! These little dishes can be used for jewelry, votives or anything else you like. The great thing is that they are super quick and easy to make so can easily make lots and lots of gifts for anyone on your list. Here is a quick and simple tutorial! This is the Sculpey clay I used. It now also comes in more colors (like pink and lavender) for more unique combinations. 1. Knead a couple of colors together until
